Teaching Place Conference Re-Scheduled

Good news! The has been rescheduled for July 14-17, 6-8pm CST each evening. We have a fantastic group of speakers and each evening will have Q&A after the presentations. Find the full program including bios and descriptions of talks.

 – Tuesday, July 14, 6-8pm CST

 – Wednesday, July 15, 6-8pm CST

 – Thursday, July 16, 6-8pm CST

 – Friday, July 17, 6-8pm CST

Each presentation will be about 10-15 minutes, followed by discussion and Q&A. Presenters will present on how higher education instructors frame “place” in their art/design classrooms and programs, as well as the responsibilities and challenges this topic brings. We will also hear from artists and curators whose practices intersect with concepts of “place.”

This event takes into consideration a variety of media and modes of making (public art, documentary work, graphic design, environmental/eco art, social practice, place-based creative collaboration, rural engagement, sound, and beyond) in relationship to teaching “place.” Topics of discussion might include, but are not limited to, geographical considerations, issues of privilege and difference, plurality of histories, public engagement, intersection of curating and teaching site-specific practices, and so on.
