Shun Jie Yong / Occupations

This January, 2nd year MFA photographer Shun Jie Yong exhibited work from his Occupations series in Gallery 148 on 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø's main campus.

"As a third generation Chinese person from Malaysia, Yong's experience transitioning into life in the United States has become central to his work." Occupations featured selected portraits from Yong's Occupation series. This series, begun during Yong's time in the MFA program at 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø, is dedicated to collecting stories of immigrants and photographing them at their place of work in an effort to tell human-centered stories about displacement and identity.
