Last week, Minneapolis became the 2017 home of the inaugural and the annual . Both conferences are hosted by AIGA, the professional association for design. 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø MFA 2nd year illustrator Alanna Stapleton '18 attended the one-day Eye on Design Conference. Throughout the day, attendees engaged in conversations about creativity and mental health, how to build strong client relationships and get paid, and crowdfunding for creatives. Speakers included illustrators Jon Burgerman, Ping Zhu, Julia Rothman, and Wendy McNaughton; illustrator and data editor at The Guardian, Mona Chalabi; filmmaker Gary Hustwit, and more. Presentations included: conversations with vocal artist and comedian Reggie Watts about creativity and improvisation; Annie Atkins on designing for films such as Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel; Command X, a live design competition for seven emerging designers from around the nation; and much more.
