New Installations by Atom Pechman and Matt Gagnon Enhance Cherapa Place Development in Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls welcomes two new art installations at Cherapa Place this week, highlighting Twin Cities artist Atom Pechman ‘02 and Los Angeles-based artist Matt Gagnon.

Pechman presents Cherapa Fireball, a 74-inch tall steel geodesic dome fire pit, crafted from weathering steel that rusts to a vibrant orange-red, destined to be a captivating focal point in the shared courtyard. This functional sculpture serves as a gathering point in the shared courtyard and reflects Pechman’s fascination with architectural forms and interactive art experiences.

Pechman’s work is accompanied by Gagnon’s Color of Memory, featuring 14-foot and 11-foot columns blending hand-blown glass, local rock-infused polished concrete, and stainless steel with powder-coated paint.

These installations underscore Cherapa Place’s commitment to enhancing public spaces with meaningful art, reinforcing its role as a cultural destination in downtown Sioux Falls, from the iconic buffalo sculpture to these latest additions.
