Despite what the title may suggest Advice for Young Artists by Alec Soth is a collection of photos from twenty-five undergraduate programs Soth attended between 2022 and 2024. Though the title may suggest that Soth is giving advice to young artists, it is a slight irony, as there is large implication that young artists are who have actually helped him. The book includes photographs taken at 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø, including portraits of students, everyday objects, and other captured moments.

Throughout the book, he explores themes of age and its impact on creativity and art. 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø student, Katherine Bocklemann ’24, drew the portrait featured on the cover. 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø alumni, London King ’22, is left a special note from Soth, "not only were you a big part of this project, you continue to be an inspiration".
