51±¬ÁϹÙÍø is proud to recognize Trustee Susan Calmenson as a Life Trustee.

Susan worked at 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø for more than twenty years in various capacities, including Records and Student Affairs. After witnessing the financial needs of students firsthand, Susan devoted her professional life to supporting them on their path to graduation. She retired from her role as Vice President of Student Affairs in 2013 and then joined 51±¬ÁϹÙ꿉۪s Board of Trustees in 2014.

As a generous financial supporter of 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø, she established The Susan Calmenson Scholarship Fund on the occasion of her twentieth year at the college. In 2015, she established a second endowed scholarship in honor of her partner and former 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø Faculty Vince Leo upon his retirement.

In addition to scholarships, Susan was a leading supporter of the college’s $24-million NEXT/NOW Capital Campaign which came to a close in 2017. Most recently, she helped establish the Design Leadership Institute through her generous support.

In her role as a trustee, Susan successfully co-led the most recent presidential and CFO searches and served as co-chair of the finance committee during the pandemic. She continues to advocate for student health and wellbeing.

Known for her quick humor and keen insight, she continues to impact 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø and our students in remarkable ways.
