The works ranged from monochrome works directly from the mind to reactions to my life in full color. Some of my work comes from a place of reacting to my neurodivergence or the political climate, while the rest comes the excitement of fantasy. Why did you decide to come to 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø?51±¬ÁϹÙÍø was my first choice college back in 2015 when I graduated high school. But financial situation meant I couldn't come. When I finally was able to afford college, 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø came up again as a near by and affordable college I could attend, and with its unique comics program I knew it was what I had to try. Because of the scholarships they offered, I was able to attend here way easier. What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond?Hoping to get my curation minor and work on a comic in an experimental art technique, like gouache painting a comic. Outside of college, I'm hoping to get into Curating comic exhibitions, and uplifting artworks that are often considered unwanted. I'm excited to try and work in the publishing field as well, specially graphic novels. Favorite thing about college life (so far)? There is so much to do and so many different events that both clubs and the school plans, I know that I can always grab a ride to go somewhere amazing either with Alan Kohl or from field trips in class! What inspires you?Works like Mushishi, Book of Friends, and Blue Period or artists like Hayao Miyazaki and E.m. CarrolDo you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!Desert Sunset is one of my favourite pieces. I tried colors I usually don't chose; a rich palette of deep purples and pastel pink and oranges. I focused on it being a single moment in time, exploring the tension between two characters in an isolated place. But I let myself have a bit of fun in it as well, balancing the somewhat sensual tone with a bit of laughter. What's the best thing you've found on the Free Shelf?A ton of gouache paints, which has become one of my favourite ways to paint, and a portable folding table which I have used for two years now!
