Visiting Artist Lecture

Nadim Damluji researches and writes about the history of Arab comics and currently works as an attorney focusing on issues of global human rights and civil rights. He co-curated the exhibition Arab Comics: 90 Years of Popular Visual Culture, which will be on view in 51±¬ÁϹÙÍø’s Concourse Gallery from August 20 to September 18, 2021. His Visiting Scholar talk will examine the Arabization of Western cultural icons such as Mickey Mouse, Tintin, and Superman that resulted in a combination of linguistic adaptation, visual appropriation, and cultural invention.
