BIO

I am a visual artist and writer originally from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. A self-described sculptural storyteller, narrative artist and comedian on paper, I use text and image to describe, subvert or revive relationships with the land, each other, and self. For me, language is a device to offer an alternative to the status quo. Sometimes, it is a poetic tool to rebel, and other times it is a scaffold to be honest and forthright with a vulnerable state of being.

My non-linear career trajectory includes: Publishing, permanent public art, murals, book design, environmental engagement, graphic design, fellowships, artist-in-residencies, grants and teaching.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY & MENTORSHIP

I'm a great mentor for those who want to develop and refine narrative in their work - either in print, public art, sculpture or social/environmental practices. I believe in being unapologetic about your unique interests and expression yet remaining diligent at refining your chosen craft.

As someone who has built a professional life while managing ADHD, I can share strategies that help with focus, prioritization and self-esteem, as well as be a resource for how to develop appropriate containers to support your creative work.

I am here to be a sounding board, guide, listener, questioner, cheerleader and hold space for that process.
